Book People Pumpkin Contest

Decorate a pumpkin or gourd to look like your favorite storybook character. Prizes for preschool, K-2nd grade, 3rd-6th grade, teen and adult categories. Entries must be real pumpkin or gourd decorated and/or painted but NOT carved. All submissions must brought between November 4th and 7th and be picked up by November 14th.

Book People Pumpkin Decorating

Come to the Community Room to use our materials to get your pumpkin ready for our Book People Pumpkin contest. Bring your own pumpkin or use one we provide (supply is limited). Create your favorite storybook character.

Books Come Alive

Costumed characters will roam the library. Meet Dorothy and Glinda from the Wizard of Oz and perhaps some other famous book characters.

Appreciation Day

Enjoy morning coffee and newspapers in the Community Room.

Ornament Craft Table

Make ornaments from old book pages and decorative paper. Keep your ornament or leave it to help decorate the library's trees at the Court House and the Jay County Historical Museum.

Senior Tech Lab at John Jay Center

Board Games Afternoon

Play board games all afternoon at the library. Use the games in our collection or bring your own. Between 2:00 and 4:00 pm you can even play Life Size Candy Land.

Life-Size Candy Land

Play the life-size Candy Land set up in the Children's area. (Imagine yourself the size of the game pieces.) Enjoy regular sized board games too.

JayCPL Book Group

The group will discuss Staying Put:  Making a Home in a Restless World by Scott Russell Sanders, author of 20 books of fiction and non-fiction living in Bloomington, Indiana.

Hook & Needles Club

Bring your own supplies and projects, or help make ornaments for the library's Christmas trees, work on finishing up your gift projects, share ideas.

Multicultural Traditions & Celebrations Expo

From Noche Buena and Our Lady of Guadalupe to traditions from India and Japan, different cultures celebrate holidays, well, differently.
